Recognising that factors such as childhood traumas and mental health issues such as depression and anxiety can lead to poor financial decisions, PennyPlan believe that addressing these issues is paramount to breaking the cycle of debt.
The additional service incorporated in their solutions, is the first of its kind within the UK and has had a huge uptake already. Almost two-thirds (62%) of customers entering their debt solutions have undertaken in-house therapy sessions to tackle their underlying issues which may be attributing to their ongoing financial troubles.

JLingz FC, on the other hand, is a football club with a difference. The club is dedicated to nurturing young footballing prospects within the community who face various challenges on their journey to pursue their dreams. These challenges include falling through the net of traditional clubs, financial constraints preventing regular football commitments, or being released by their former clubs with the daunting uncertainty of the future.
The release of young professionals from football clubs can take a toll on their mental well-being, as they grapple with the uncertainty of replacing their loss of income while re-evaluating their career paths. The partnership between PennyPlan and JLingz FC aims to provide a support system for these young talents and their families.
To highlight the need for such offerings, a recent ITV survey revealed that nearly 75% of young footballers who responded said they were not given enough support by the clubs that let them go. Almost 90% of players said they had experienced depression or anxiety since being released and more than half said they would not recommend their former club to other players.
